What to see in Austin Texas We wanted a picture perfect evening of Lake Travis view, this is exactly we wish for what to see in Austin! Basked in all the glory of mother nature has to offer, right in the neighborhood of the Austin suburbs, we thought that The Oasis might be the place to be.
As our car turned around the corner, The Oasis of Austin Texas loomed into view. It's a massive structure, built on the cliff side, hanging precariously - looking on to Lake Travis like a giant ship about to topple over into the lake.

The walk from the car park to The Oasis takes you through a small range of shops, flower-beds and an assortment of sculptures which can only be described as strange and weird or extraordinary - like for example the remains of what seems to be a small spaceship.
When you get to the restaurant, choose to sit outside - and you will be treated to the grand view of Lake Travis. The outdoor dining area is practically build on platforms overhanging the sides of the lake, giving you and unobstructed and perfect view of the scenic vista. Feel the air blowing in from the lake as you dine.
Walking into the Oasis itself feels like you've walked into a castle some centuries back, complete with stone arcs and sculptures of knights and beasts from long ago. I'd imagine that this walkway without light would become quite creepy.

What to see in Austin TX: Sunset at The Oasis
It was evening when we were there and the sun is about to set. As you dine, you could literally track the sun as it descends like a fiery fireball from the lake onto the lake. As evening draws to an end, so does the sun disappears behind the horizon, and you are able to capture the gold and crimson skies as the sun gradually fades and the night takes over the city of Austin Texas. The gold reflections of the sky and waning sun shimmers off the Lake Travis like sparklers. This is absolutely the place to be if one thinks of what to see in Austin on a spring or summer evening. A perfect, picturesque sunset!

At the point when the sun finally disappears behind the horizon, the staff of The Oasis will ring the evening bell - marking the end of the day and the beginning of the festivities of the night. The food served in The Oasis is average at best, you really is there for the Lake Travis view and to bask in the beauty of mother nature. Enough said, it completes what we wanted to do in Austin!
