Our last trip to Johnson City did not give us much choices to pick for lunch. In fact, it was not really lunch since we were looking for food at three in the afternoon after we had the LBJ Ranch Tour. I did not do any homework so we ended up with Silver K Cafe since it is one of the handful that is prominent along U.S. Hwy 290.

Our scouting party went for a quick peek on the menu and they looked attractive. So, we made up our mind to dine at Silver K cafe.
As we entered, there were only a couple of occupied tables in the restaurant. They do have the outdoor casual seating arrangement as well.
Apparently, there was only one host-staff who was also the wait-staff so it took us about 15-20 minutes before she came back to take our order.
The menu features a wide range of Texas food includes hot entrees, grills, sandwiches, salads, soups and meatloaf. On top of these, they also serve Texas beer and wines besides the regular drinks.
The food arrived promptly and check out what we had.
Chicken Fried Steak is served with the Silver K Café's own country gravy, mashed potatoes and sauteed long beans.

All of us finished up everything on our platter. Perhaps we were sort of starving (lunch at almost 4pm!) or the portion was just perfect for us. Personally, the flavor was good too and price was reasonable.
