Spectacular sunrise!
Completed about a year ago (mid 2008), Jelutong Promenade at Nautilus Bay is running almost parallel to Lebuh Sungai Pinang 4 next to Jelutong Expressway and claimed to be Penang's longest landscaped urban park. Featuring 10-meter wide walkway and a stretch of 3.6 km long by seafront, Jelutong Promenade was built from reclaimed land and provides an alternative for Penang folks to stroll in the evening or jog in the morning while enjoying the beautiful sights of Penang Bridge, Butterworth port and the mainland of Peninsular Malaysia.

Nothing blocks the view of Penang Bridge
The major attraction at this urban park is the central deck whereby there are 4 prominent blue posts of 25 meter tall soaring to the sky. This iconic sculpture is named as ‘Celebration of Our Blue Sky’. Another outstanding sculpture here is Rhythm of Light, resembling the music notes. These sculptures are the work of Hitori Nakayama – a Japanese artist who has made the Penang island his home in the last 20 years.
Overlooking mainland - do you notice the Bukit Mertajam Hill?
From central deck towards south end - hardly visibly!
We frequented this spot last year to train up for Penang Bridge Run 2008 and that’s when I captured the sunrise shots. Scenic and unforgettable!
The triple-storey water front houses at Jelutong Promenade
I shall be visiting again soon!
