Langkawi Restaurant Review

Floating on the Straits of Malacca about 110 km north of Penang, Langkawi is never an island to land on for food, be it in a Langkawi restaurant, cafe or by road side though most of us love its idyllic beaches and laid back adventures. That said, where to eat is still a puzzle. Hunting for the best restaurant in Langkawi is not easy since most reviews I run through over majority of the restaurants on the island are fed with more complaints than compliments.

On the first day when we stepped on the land of Eagle or Lang, we decided to pick one of the nearest eating place from our hotel. We wanted to have just a quick one and be back to prepare for the following full day itinerary - that's the excuse we gave ourselves. From Langkawi restaurant blog review, I suggested Cactus Cafe that sits exactly opposite our resort. Alas, it was closed for two weeks. So, we drove out heading north to Pantai Cenang.

Not too far from the Underwater World, at the intersection of Jalan Pantai Tengah and Jalan Pantai Cenang, we spotted a few decent restaurants by the road side but I didn't remember these names in the langkawi restaurant tripadvisor recommendation. From The Lighthouse, Turkey to Casablanca, in the end we ended up at Chiew Seafood Restaurant, slightly opposite Aseania Resort.

Being the first group of customers in this Langkawi restaurant, the waitstaff attended to us promptly, distributing menu and providing high chairs for our children. Armed with four hungry stomach, we opted for steam fish, seaweed-tofu-egg soup, stir-fried green vegetables and claypot chicken.

In less than 15 minutes, the first dish was served and within minutes the rest were presented on our dining table. We were happy to ask for steamed rice to go with all the dishes. Just a word of warning, a plate of rice cost RM2! All servings were not large in size and nothing much to boast about food - they were only average at the best. Everything in this Langkawi restaurant plus a pot of Chinese tea cost us RM118.80 inclusive of 10% service tax at which made us pondered for a whileLaughing!
