We are a bunch of big fans for Mexican food, so we were here for a treat on Saturday night! Joining the crowd, it was fun despite the initial challenge of getting a free table when we arrived. As we walked into the dining zone, the decor is chic, classy with a dash of vibrant colors and paintings. The owner has certainly put a lot of thoughts into the decor and it shows on every corner of Fonda San Miguel Austin.

With a vast selection of Mexican favorites, we went with the recommendation for a platter of lambs and tortillas. It is called  Plato Miguel, perfect for all of us as starters. In fact, an amigo who doesn't fancy lamb gave a thumb-up for this dish. For entrees, here were what we ordered: Ancho Relleno Fonda San Miguel, Relleno Picadillo, Pato en Salsa, Relleno de Quesco and Shrimp Al Mojo, which all comes served with rice and red beans paste.
Ancho Relleno San MiguelShrimp Al Mojo
Shredded port, almonds and raisins filled into the poblano pepper and lightly battered and roasted, these are basically made up the Relleno de Picadillo. Served with Jotomate or tomato pureed sauce with additional spices, this dish is delicious. The Ancho Relleno is the similar poblano pepper but is left on the tree longer thus older and more ripe. Filled with chicken, olives, capers and almonds in light cilantro cream sauce, it is an awesome meal particularly if you like creamy stuff. The Ancho Relleno is also a dish that they are famous for, some sort like the brand dish of Fonda San Miguel Austin.

The service is great. The foods are incredible. From the presentation, ingredients to its flavor, San Miguel is the place to dine lavishly. Price is on the upscale, however we always have a good reason to be there. Whether it a special occasion, celebrating anniversary, or a romantic dinner for two in the quaint atmosphere, Fonda San Miguel Austin can be the most ideal choice!
