 Going to Kiulu river rafting was never in our plan. We signed up for Padas river rafting two weeks ahead. However, heavy downpours and flood in Tenom had since get worse. The night before the trip, our tour agent called up and informed on change of plan - to Kiulu River instead! Although disappointed, we accepted it as my better half had never tried white water rafting. At 8:30am, our transport picked us up at our hotel.  Armed with a GPS that was set to synchronize with a compact camera in term of time parameter, below is some statistics and a chart on how well did we fare in the hike from Desa Bendera to Penang Hill. Statistics recorded from GPS:Highest elevation reached: 729 mDuration taken: 2.6 hoursHighest speed: 7.5 km per hrIn fact, this path is a consistent uphill track.This is an image matched on Google Earth.  11 Jan 2009 morning was my the first hike to Penang Hill in 2009. Initiated by KY and referring to the material in ForestExplorer website, we started at about 8 am from Desa Bendera apartment along Jalan Bukit Bendera (Penang Hill Road) in Ayer Itam, Penang. Right opposite of the main road is a Buddhist Temple called Miau Xiang Ling (Beow Hiang Lim). We took the road along Pesiaran Taman Cantik, then crossed a small bridge.  Starwalk is an annual walking competition event organized in Penang by The Star Publication, a local English daily since 31 years ago. Today 14 December is the 'star' walkers day for 2008. Usually falls one of the Sundays in December, Starwalk is known as the oldest sporting event organized in Pearl of Orient which is the nick-name of Penang.
